After producing the shocking made-for-television movie that introduced a vampire on Las Vegas in The Night Stalker (1972), Dan Curtis returned to vampires once again, this time helming a lush, colorful production of Bram Stoker’s classic tale of horror and heroism, Dracula (1974).ĭracula is a story that has been done and redone, twisting Stoker’s novel and subsequent play out of proportion in an effort to find a new angle, a new spin. Van Helsing (Nigel Davenport) stand in the Count’s way. Only Lucy’s fiancée Arthur (Simon Ward) and Dr. There, he woos Lucy, drains her of life and strength by increments, and then shifts his sights to his next prey, Johnathan’s own Mina. He leaves Johnathan trapped in his castle and sails away to London on the doom Demeter. The fact that one of these properties, Carfax Abbey, is spitting distance from the estate where Lucy lives is all the convincing Dracula needs. He’s on the prowl for another bride to add to his collection, and when he spies a picture Johnathan has of his fiancé Mina (Penelope Horner) and her lively bff Lucy (Fiona Lewis), he is smitten. Of course, the good Count Dracula (Jack Palance) is not so good at all. But there he is, living in a castle with protective Rom servants, a trio of voluptuous women (Virginia Wetherell, Barbara Lindley, and Sarah Douglas), and plenty of locked doors, cobwebs, and coffin shaped boxes filled with earth. Synopsis: When Johnathan Harker (Murray Brown) went to Transylvania to meet a reclusive nobleman about purchasing some properties in Victorian England, he never suspected the fellow to be quite so eccentric.
